Description
There is a stand of Bird of Paradise plants outside a local art center that I usually search for interesting patterns I can take macro photographs of. On a recent visit, there were some blossoms. These are white bird of paradise (Strelitzia nicolai).
White Bird-of-Paradise is a striking landscape plant because of its large, banana-like leaves and upright, clumping stalks which give an exotic, tropical feel. Plants can reach 20 to 30 feet in height with a
spread of 10 feet though they are often seen much
smaller. The five to eight-foot-long, cold-tender leaves are arranged in a fanlike display from the erect trunks and appear much like Traveler’s palm tree. The lower trunk becomes clear of leaves and exposed as the older leaves drop off. Leaves rip along the veins as they are blown by strong winds.
I am an award-winning exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art. This image would be a good selection for business or corporate wall art and decor or in any home.
