Description
This abstracted digital photo painting of the Chatham Lighthouse was created from my original photograph. It is a fun, colorful pop-art style.
The Chatham Lighthouse is located on the grounds of the Chatham US Coast Guard Station. The Chatham Light was established in 1808 and was a twin to the nearby Nauset Lighthouse. The Nauset Light was moved to Eastham in 1923. Chatham Light and Coast Guard Station are featured in the film “The Finest Hour.” The film chronicles the US Coast Guard’s rescue of the SS Pendleton in 1952 off the coast of Chatham. Tours are offered of the lighthouse during the tourist season. The Coast Guard Station and Lighthouse and on station lifesaving boat are on a cliff across from Lighthouse Beach in Chatham.
Although this is an oft photographed landmark, this image is an original photograph by Sharon Eng and has had some digital editing to clean it up a little. It was a bright, sunny September day, perfect for a lighthouse tour. I caught the bright white sun glowing behind the top of the structure that houses the Fresnel lens.
