Description
The Town Center Mall in Port Charlotte, Florida, has a play area called the Yard where children, teens and adults can play various games, such as chess and checkers with giant pieces, ping pong, and tic tac toe. The game boards are painted on the floor. When I passed by, the x and o pieces were scattered around the painted board. I couldn't resist capturing some images for a series of unique abstract images.
Tic-tac-toe (American English), noughts and crosses (British English), or Xs and Os is a paper-and-pencil game for two players, X and O, who take turns marking the spaces in a grid. The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row is the winner.
According to Wikipedia, games played on three-in-a-row boards can be traced back to ancient Egypt where such game boards have been found on roofing tiles dating from around 1300 BCE.
An early variation of tic-tac-toe was played in the Roman Empire, around the first century BC.
