The Grimshawes Post Office claimed the distinction as the smallest US Post Office from 1878 until 1953 when it ceased operation. It is just It is just 5 by 6 feet and was called the Whiteside Cove Post Office when it was first opened. It was renamed Grimshawes in 1909 after the postmaster Thomas Grimshaw. It is located in Cashiers, North Carolina, below Whitesides Mountain of Whitesides Cove Road.
