This wood stork was wading in the pond behind my home and, when it spread its wings, a number of captions came to mind. In this greeting card, the spread wings seemed like a hug was coming. It inspired the caption, "I think you need a hug." This would be a good card to offer emotional support or understanding to a friend or loved one in a time of need. Sometimes we just need a big hug to get us through troubled times.

The wood stork is a large American wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. It was formerly called the "wood ibis", though it is not an ibis. It is found in subtropical and tropical habitats in the Americas, including the Caribbean. They fly with their neck and legs outstretched but tend to perch with the neck drawn in, giving them a humpbacked appearance.

I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains.
