Description
The bright winter Florida morning sun created some lovely shadows and silhouettes during my walk on the campus of State College of Florida in North Port, Florida. This heron was just chillin' in the shallow water of Lake Jervey.
The State College of Florida campus is about 100 acres and is open to local residents and visitors to visit to enjoy the large wetlands area which attracts many of Florida's coastal birds and wildlife to the shallow lakes and ponds. There is a paved trail around the lake and residents are invited to enjoy the natural environment. Many photographers also frequent the trail for glimpses of the beautiful coastal birds.
The herons are long-legged freshwater and coastal birds in the family Ardeidae, with 64 recognised species, some of which are referred to as egrets or bitterns rather than herons.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art. This image would be a good selection for business or corporate wall art and decor or in any home.
