Description
Situated in North Port, Florida, on the southwest coast, the Big Slough Preserve is adjacent to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. This expansive natural area is where Old Florida nature still exists. There are many miles of winding rustic wooded paths and trails, footbridges, an oak canopy with old, tall palms, and the Myakkahatchee Creek nearby. On this particular day, with a dry winter and not much spring rain, the creek beds were dry and the pond only contained grass and wild flowers. North Port is situated between Sarasota and Fort Myers, north of Charlotte Harbor.
I have converted this image of the trail to black and white to compliment the bare, twisting branches and palm fronds.

Thank you so much, Calvin, for adding my image to the features in the A Tree or Trees in Black and White group.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
