Description
This colorful landscape began as one of my macro photographs. When I paint, I often place a piece of cardboard beneath the canvas or cover my work table with paper. When I am finished, there are often interesting paint remnants on the board and I do some macros. This image made me think of a a sailboat regatta off some tropical coast. I love seeing the sails out on the water and the boats gliding over the waves. I did some digital refinements and painting to define the sails and adjust the color more to the tourquoise and blue, although the water and sky colors are so similar, the horizon almost disappears. To me, this is a very peaceful and relaxing image.
This can be any tropical or coastal area you envision - from the Caribbean Islands to Florida, to Georgia, North or South Carolina, on up the coast to Virginia, New York, Long Island, and Cape Cod. I imagine the Great Lakes areas also have many sailboats, as well as California and Texas.
