According to Wikipedia, the Barnstable County Courthouse in Barnstable, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is an historic courthouse. The two-story Greek Revival building was built in 1831 to a design by architect Alexander Parris. It is built mostly out of Quincy granite, although its front portico and fluted Doric columns are made of wood fashioned to look like stone. The building has been expanded five times between 1879 and 1971, with each addition made in a style sensitive to its original styling, and its main courtroom features original Federal styling. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, and included in the Old King's Highway Historic District in 1987. The Barnstable Superior Court is located in the building.
This image was taken around Labor Day in early September, although I am not sure that is what brought out all the US flags. The walkway to the entrance wraps around and the small flags flanked the walk all the way around to the other side. It was an impressive display.
September, some think, is the best time of year on the Cape. The weather is still warm, the crowds are gone, and the beaches are just for you. Barnstable is a city, referred to as the Town of Barnstable, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts and is the county seat of Barnstable County. Barnstable is the largest community, both in land area and population, on Cape Cod. Barnstable lies in the Upper Cape, which is the "upper arm" as you look at a map of the area which is shaped like an arm bent at the elbow.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains.
