Description
This wonderful garden was seen during a visit to the mountain town of Highlands, North Carolina. The colors were wonderful and these bright orange blossoms really popped. I have applied a digital watercolor painting application to create a painterly effect.
Highlands was founded in 1875 after its two founders, Samuel Truman Kelsey and Clinton Carter Hutchinson, drew lines from Chicago to Savannah and from New Orleans to New York City. They felt that the place where these lines met would eventually become a great trading center and commercial crossroads. Highlands was named for its lofty elevation and is the highest town east of the Mississippi. Although it isn't the great trading center and commercial center its founders envisioned, it is a popular tourist destination and summer resort community for the more affluent residents of nearby urban areas. Daytrippers visit Highlands to enjoy the abundance of outdoor activities, hiking, and nature.
I am an award-winning exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art. This image would be a good selection for business or corporate wall art and decor or in any home.
