Artist's Description

These white Chrysanthemum nipponicums (Nippon Daisy) were growing at the Reynolda Botanical Gardens in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (NC). I have created this digital photo painting to represent the flowers growing along a lakefront and dipping into the water.

Reynolda Garden is located adjacent to the Reynolda campus of Wake Forest University and the Reynolda House.

The gardens were originally part of a large country estate and farm created by tobacco magnate R. J. Reynolds and his wife Katharine Smith Reynolds between 1906 and 1923. After the death of Mrs. Reynolds in 1924, most of the property was gradually sold or given away, including a gift of 300 acres to Wake Forest College in the late 1940s for its Winston-Salem campus. In a series of gifts from 1958 to 1962, their daughter Mary Reynolds Babcock established Reynolda Gardens by donating its property to the college. The entire property also includes a 3/4-mile woodland trail, as well as a slightly longer perimeter...

Thank you for taking time to visit my gallery. Enjoy the journey and please come back again. It is interesting to walk through my images and discover that, even back almost 40 years ago, I was intrigued by light, shapes, and color patterns. Back then I used a 35mm Canon film camera and I find many "abstract" images in my early work. Now I am currently exploring digital art, generally beginning with one of my photographs and seeing what new creations emerge. I consider the computer desktop my canvas and PhotoShop my paints and tools. I find, in my original and digital work, that I am still leaning to abstract. Although I may give a title to the image based on my vision, the interpretation is always up to the viewer. I always hope...
