This is an acrylic painting created at the request of my husband who remembers this view from his youth. This is a special view as it was the coastal view of Nantucket Sound from my in-law's Cape Cod cottage. There was a canal that ran in front of the house and several small creeks that were cut into the marsh between the cottage and the beach. My mother-in-law would keep a pair of binoculars on a table in front of the window and keep watch for anyone in trouble out on the water. She initiated a couple rescues and was affectionately known as the Coast Guard.
Cape Cod is a peninsula in the shape of an arm off the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It is a popular summertime destination for its quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, freshwater glacier ponds, and bays and beaches. Visitors can board ferries in Hyannis and Harwich Port to cruise over to the Cape islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Cape Cod extends from Provincetown at the northeast tip of the fingers...
Thank you for taking time to visit my gallery. Enjoy the journey and please come back again. It is interesting to walk through my images and discover that, even back almost 40 years ago, I was intrigued by light, shapes, and color patterns. Back then I used a 35mm Canon film camera and I find many "abstract" images in my early work. Now I am currently exploring digital art, generally beginning with one of my photographs and seeing what new creations emerge. I consider the computer desktop my canvas and PhotoShop my paints and tools. I find, in my original and digital work, that I am still leaning to abstract. Although I may give a title to the image based on my vision, the interpretation is always up to the viewer. I always hope...
