This bright sunset water landscape photograph is at Rock Harbor Beach near Orleans, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The sun is just about to drop below the horizon and burns brightly as a last hoorah. The tall shore grasses and reeds are silhouetted against the colorful sky. Rock Harbor presents so many unique photographic opportunities. With all of the grass and the solitary trees growing out of the water (as navigational beacons and channel markers), it's unlike any other beach I've seen on the Cape. Orleans, Massachusetts, is also home to the Coast Guard Rescue Ship, CG36500, which performed the heroic rescue of the crew of the Pendleton, recreated in the recent movie The Finest Hours. The CG36500 is docked at Rock Harbor. Rock Harbor has become a gathering place for sunset watchers and photographers, much as Mallory Square is on Key West. Musicians come out to provide music and entertainment and a happy crowd gathers to celebrate the end of the day.
Thank you for taking time to visit my gallery. Enjoy the journey and please come back again. It is interesting to walk through my images and discover that, even back almost 40 years ago, I was intrigued by light, shapes, and color patterns. Back then I used a 35mm Canon film camera and I find many "abstract" images in my early work. Now I am currently exploring digital art, generally beginning with one of my photographs and seeing what new creations emerge. I consider the computer desktop my canvas and PhotoShop my paints and tools. I find, in my original and digital work, that I am still leaning to abstract. Although I may give a title to the image based on my vision, the interpretation is always up to the viewer. I always hope...
