Situated in North Port, Florida, on the southwest coast, Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park is a natural area where Old Florida nature still exists. It features 2.5 miles of winding rustic wooded paths and trails, footbridges, an oak canopy with old, tall palms, and the Myakkahatchee Creek nearby. The week before Christmas threatened heavy rain coming which means soggy trails and possibly some flooding from the creek. On this day there was a strong breeze and intermittent sun from the overcast sky. North Port is situated between Sarasota and Fort Myers, north of Charlotte Harbor.

This image, which has been digitally transformed into a drawing through the addition of several paint applications, is from my original photograph. Although we didn’t see a log of wildlife on this hike through the woods, maybe another time.

I am an award-winning exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina...

It is interesting to walk through my images and discover that, even back almost 40 years ago, I was intrigued by light, shapes, and color patterns. Back then I used a 35mm Canon film camera and I find many "abstract" images in my early work. Now I am currently exploring digital art, generally beginning with one of my photographs and seeing what new creations emerge. I consider the computer desktop my canvas and PhotoShop my paints and tools. I find, in my original and digital work, that I am still leaning to abstract. Although I may give a title to the image based on my vision, the interpretation is always up to the viewer. I always hope...
