Description
This delightful vision was a surprise as I rounded a corner in a public garden in North Carolina. The colorful yellow and orange tulips were shining in the sunshine through a heavily wooded area. It was a happy sight on an early spring day.
Tulips are a spring-blooming perennial herbaceous bulb. The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly coloured, generally red, pink, yellow, or white (usually in warm colours). Flowering in the spring, they become dormant in the summer once the flowers and leaves die back, emerging above ground as a shoot from the underground bulb in early spring. Tulips are often accompanied by daffodils which also bloom in the spring from bulbs. Most home gardens where the winters are cold enough to cause the bulbs to lie dormant have these colorful flowers to herald the beginning of spring.
For this image, I applied a watercolor paint application to give a more painterly appearance.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art. This image would be a good selection for business or corporate wall art and decor or in any home.
