Description
This is an image captured from behind Dry Falls in Highlands, North Carolina. This year, the area had had a great deal of rain, creating swollen rivers and waterfalls.
Dry Falls is also known as Upper Cullasaja Falls is a 65-foot waterfall in the Nantahala National Forest, northwest of Highlands, North Carolina. Dry Falls flows on the Cullasaja River through the Nantahala National Forest and is part of a series of waterfalls on an 8.7-mile (14 km) stretch of the river that eventually ends with Cullasaja Falls. Visitors can walk up under the falls because Dry Falls flows over an overhanging bluff that allows them to remain relatively dry when the waterflow is low. When the waterflow is high, such as in this image, onlookers get pretty damp.
