This landscape image was taken on Morris Island in Chatham, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It is another beautiful, sunny day in early September, some think the best time of year on the Cape. The weather is still warm, the crowds are gone, and the beaches are just for you. Here, on this peaceful stretch of beach, someone with a sense of humor has chartered their own yacht club, complete with beach chairs and a boat. Morris Island forms the south side of Chatham and features some of the areas exclusive neighborhoods. The beach can be accessed through the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, too.
Cape Cod is a peninsula in the shape of an arm off the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It is a popular summertime destination for its quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, freshwater glacier ponds, and bays and beaches. Visitors can board ferries in Hyannis and Harwich Port to cruise over to the Cape islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Cape Cod extends from Provincetown at the northeast tip of the fingers to Woods Hole in the upper arm in the southwest. Chatham is located mid-Cape at the elbow.
