Description
This is a view of the well-known and photographed landmark, the Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower, at the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim. Modeled after ancient ancestral Puebloans watchtowers found in the Four Corners region, the Watchtower, at Desert View, was designed by architect Mary Colter. The walls of the tower feature murals by Hopi artist Frank Kabotie and you can climb the stairs to the top for an outstanding view of the Canyon and the surrounding area. Although the Watchtower opened in 1933, it was built it to look old and fit right in with the surroundings.

It is good to see this Watchtower building again. I had the pleasure of working four summers at the Grand Canyon so I enjoy viewing work shot from there. Nice.

Wow, Gary, what a wonderful experience that must have been. I've had the pleasure of visiting both the south and north rims.
