Description
There is nothing like winter to be able to fully appreciate the shape and structure of trees. And there are many strong, sturdy trees in the mountains of North Carolina. This specimen was sighted along the road to Blowing Rock on a stark, freezing winter day. Under clear conditions, there would be an incredible view beyond the tree. Today, not so much! I loved the delicacy of the fine branches at the tips of the stonger limbs and the shape of the thick branches and filigreed edges.
Blowing Rock is a village in western North Carolina on scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s named after The Blowing Rock, a formation with sweeping views of peaks, forests and the Johns River Gorge. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway and All-American Road in the United States, noted for its scenic beauty. The parkway, which is America's longest linear park, runs for 469 miles through 29 Virginia and North Carolina counties, linking Shenandoah National Park to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It runs mostly along the spine of the Blue Ridge, part of the Appalachian Mountains. It begins in the south between Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina, from which it travels north to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art. This image would be a good selection for business or corporate wall art and decor or in any home.
